Connie Sue Maynard Rees, 55, Rio Grande, left us unexpectedly during the early morning hours on Friday, March 19, 2010, at Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis, with her family by her side. She was born July 25, 1954, at Logan, W.Va., the fifth daughter of Richard and Lillian Butcher Maynard, who survive and reside in Bidwell.

She married Dwane Rees 39 years ago on March 19, 1971, and he survives with two children, Kellie (Matt Maynard) Rees, Rio Grande, and Douglas (Jennifer) Rees, Bidwell; three grandsons, Daniel Rees, Chase Nance and Morgan Gibson. Also surviving are sisters, Linda (Larry) Sturgill, Stout, Ohio, Mary (Ralph) Young, Gallipolis, Chris (Russ) Cook, Martinsburg, W.Va., Nanci (James) LeMaster, Decatur, Ill., and Patricia (Bryan) Jones, Rio Grande; brothers, Danny (Bernie) Maynard, Lebanon, Ohio, Gregory (Marybelle) Maynard, Gallipolis; father-in-law, David Lincoln (Betty) Rees, Gallipolis; brothers-in-law, Dean (Amee) Rees, Bidwell, Dwight (Christi) Rees, Rio Grande, and David (Sharon) Rees, Gallipolis; 22 nieces and nephews; nine great nieces and nephews and lifelong friends, Brenda, Roger and Bret Keefer, Point Pleasant, W.Va., Linda Lester, Gallipolis, and Pat and Betsy Canaday, Rio Grande.

Connie was a Wal-Mart manager who worked in many departments. She will truly be missed by her loved ones, neighbors, friends and by everyone who met her. She always had a smile on her face even when she was feeling poorly; always had an encouraging word for whomever she met.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, at McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton, with Pastor Jack Berry officiating. Burial will follow.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
