BIDWELL — A traffic stop Saturday night on U.S. 35 near the rest area resulted in the seizure of marijuana and suspected check forgery equipment and the arrest of two Columbus women.
Around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, a trooper from the Gallia-Meigs Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol pulled over a vehicle regarding a traffic violation.
The Gallia County Sheriff’s Office was called in after marijuana was discovered in the vehicle and Tiffany Nicholas, 37, and Tessa Wilson, 18, were arrested.
In addition to approximately two pounds of marijuana, authorities seized equipment used to forge checks and merchandise believed to be purchased with those checks.
According to investigators, the suspects allegedly printed checks, printed false identifications, used those checks and identifications to purchase merchandise from retailers in order to sell the merchandise on E-Bay.
Nicholas is reportedly currently on federal probation for forgery.
Both Nicholas and Wilson were taken to the Gallia County Jail and charged with felony drug possession. Charges relating to the alleged forgery are still pending.
