GALLIPOLIS — The Crown City man who led police on a chase through Gallipolis on Dec. 3 is facing prison time after pleading guilty to two seperate charges.
Nathan Halley, 24, Crown City, who pled guilty to fleeing and eluding, is expected to be sentenced to three years in prison, according to the plea agreement. In addition, Halley pled guilty to breaking and entering into Clifford’s Auto Parts on Oct. 14, 2009. He is expected to be sentenced to 12 months in prison to run consecutively with the fleeing sentence.
According to the plea agreement, the state will recommend judical release into the SEPTA program after Halley completes a total of two years.
Sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 17.
The fleeing and eluding charge resulted from the Dec. 3 police pursuit through downtown Gallipolis after Gallipolis City Police attempted a traffic stop on Halley at the intersection of Second Ave. and Pine. Halley reportedly attempted to elude police on Ohio 588/State St., ran a red light at Fourth Ave. and crossed the center line, where he crashed head-on into another vehicle.
After the collision, Halley tried to escape but was quickly apprehended by police.
Two adult passengers in the vehicle he struck were taken to Holzer Medical Center with minor injuries, while a young child was reportedly not injured.
