He was born September 13, 1951, in Piqua, Ohio, son of the late Chester E. and Martha Carpenter Kite, who survives him. Rick was a 1969 graduate of Graham Local High School in St. Paris, Ohio and a plumber by trade. He loved fishing and Indian history.
Surviving are his mother, Martha Carpenter Kite of Vinton; a son, Nicky Lee Reed; two sisters, Vicky (Ed) Salyers of Urbana and Mindy (Kevin) Pullins of Gallipolis; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Chester E. “Smokey” Kite, Jr.
The family would like to thank all the doctors and nursing staff on the second floor at Holzer Medical Center for the outstanding care given him.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, January 31, 2010, at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Marc Sarrett officiating. Burial will follow at Gallia Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m., Saturday, January 30, 20101, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Perry Vernon, Scott Vernon, Levi Pullins, Luke Pullins, David Carpenter and Preston Rice.
