Andrew Carter/photo - According to the National Weather Service, a flood warning remains in effect today for Gallia County. The Ohio River and its tributaries continued to creep out of their banks on Wednesday, leaving their mark on the local landscape. The Gallipolis riverfront area is now completely covered and Chickamauga Creek overflowed its banks Wednesday, flooding Memorial Field and washing over the Spruce St. Extension bridge. High water was also reported along Campaign Creek and Raccoon Creek and in the vicinity of Swan Creek near Crown City. Emergency officials caution motorists not to attempt to drive through high water. The National Weather Service forecast for today called for another inch of snow. There is also a slight chance of snow on Friday with high temperatures only expected to reach the mid 20s.
