Iris G. Cox, 86, of Gallipolis, took her flight in the arms of Jesus to join her loving husband, Erie, and a host of friends and relatives on Sunday, January 17, 2010, surrounded by her children.

She was born February 2, 1923, in Gallipolis, daughter of the late Robert E. and Belva D. Lemly Harrison. Iris married Erie E. Cox on July 5, 1941, and he preceded her in death on January 21, 2003. Iris was a homemaker and a longtime member of the First Church of the Nazarene.

She is survived by her children, John Robert (Bob and Loretta) Cox, Philip D. Cox, Danny E. Cox, Sue (Hugh) Francis and Pam (Jack) Williams, all of Gallipolis; one sister, Peggy Gillespie of Columbus; two brothers, Bob Harrison of Gallipolis and James (Bea) Harrison of Tamarac, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Brian (Dede) Francis, Gary Cox, Colton Cox, Dustin Cox and Kory Cox, all of Gallipolis, Bobby Cox and Timmy Cox, both of Columbus; four great grandchildren, Lilly E. Francis, Dakota and Hayley Cox, all of Gallipolis and Bobbi J. (Dusty) Milam of Milton, W.Va.; a great great granddaughter, Garyn B. Milam of Milton, W.Va.; and special caregiver, Kay Cox.

Iris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; Erie Cox; sisters, Irene Thivener, Louise Wells, Freda Fritch and Corrine Harrison; and brothers, Lawrence, Marion (Jack), Paul (Chub) and Carl Harrison.

Services will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at the First Church of the Nazarene, Gallipolis, with Rev. Robert Fulton and Morris Wolfe officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Street Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at the church.

Pallbearers will be Ron Halley, Randy Scott, Larry Priest, Morris Wolfe, Ron Allison, Justin Williams, Arthur Clark and Bobby Steinbeck.
