Lady Eagles remain unbeaten, defeat Wahama

TUPPERS PLAINS — The Eastern Lady Eagles won their ninth game of the 2009-2010 season Monday evening despite trailing at the end of the first quarter against the Wahama Lady Falcons.

The visiting Lady Falcons lead by a score of 15-11 at the end of the first quarter, but were unable to hold the lead for long as the Lady Eagles recovered quickly in the second quarter. Eastern scored 25 second quarter points, while holding Wahama to only four points in the period. The Lady Eagles took a 36-19 lead at the half.

The Lady Eagles continued to increase their lead in the second half, outscoring Wahama 17-7 and 24-2 in the third and fourth quarters respectively. Eastern went on to win 77-28 over the Lady Falcons.

The Lady Falcons were led in scoring by Taylor Hysell with nine points. Karista Ferguson and Alex Wood each added five points, Kelsey Zuspan scored four points, Deidra Peters and Whitney Fields each had two points, and Mackenzie Gabritsch and Katie Davis rounded out the scoring with one point each.

Eastern was led by Kasey Turley with 21 points. Audrionna Pullins scored 12 points, Allie Rawson had 11 points, Beverly Maxson added nine points, Emeri Connery scored seven points, Brooke Johnson scored six points, Brenna Holter added four points, Ashley Putnam had three points, and Cheyenne Doczi and Tori Goble each scored two points.

The Lady Falcons return to action tonight as they host Buffalo in a make up game with the two quarter JV contest beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Eastern travels to Waterford on Thursday evening to face the defending TVC Hocking champions. The Lady Eagles are ranked 12th in the first AP poll of the season.
