KANAUGA — Gallia County sheriff’s deputies have arrested a woman suspected of being involved in a recent burglary.

According to Gallia County Sheriff Joe Browning, deputies took Maria A. Patterson, 34, into custody on Friday, Jan. 8. She is being charged with one count of burglary of a residence located on Kelly Drive in the Kanuaga area. Investigators state that a report was filed on Dec. 10, stating that several items were taken from a home.

Browning said detectives were able to obtain enough evidence to charge Patterson for this burglary. There have been other such incidents in the Kelly Drive area in the past two months in what is normally a very quite neighborhood, he said. Those incidents are under investigation.

Browning also commended the area residents who have formed a crime watch group in the Kelly Drive neighborhood to help prevent thefts and burglaries.

Anyone with information should call the sheriff’s office crime tip line at 446-6555 or report them online at www.galliasheriff.org.
