GALLIPOLIS — An Oak Hill man has been ordered to serve prison time after pleading guilty to a sexually-based offense in Gallia County Common Pleas Court.

Clinton Bishop, 54, was sentenced to four years in the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction after he pled guilty to one count of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, however, according to the underlying plea agreement, the state intends to recommend a motion for judicial release after he serves six month of incarceration.

The offense involved a female who was 14-years old at the time the offense was committed.

Bishop was initially charged with two counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, though one of those counts was dismissed pursuant to the plea agreement. He was further ordered to pay costs of the prosecution for judgment rendered.

Upon his release from prison, Bishop will be classified as a Tier II sexually oriented offender.

One count of disrupting public service was also dismissed pursuant to his guilty plea.

Harkins’ four-year sentence is to run concurrent with a 17-month sentence he is presently serving regarding a 2008 attempted burglary case.
