Roger was a carpenter. He was a member of the Providence Missionary Baptist Church. He also was a former member of the Gallia County Coon Club and former member of the Buckeye Shoe Benders Pony Pull Association.
In addition to his mother, Louise Halley Queen, he is survived by his wife Doris J. Hively Halley of Crown City, whom he married on June 5, 1965; two children, Kevin (Judy) Halley, and Rogenia (Larry) Tobias both of Gallipolis; two grandchildren, Megan Halley (fiancé Kenny Blazer) and Mikayla Spillman; four sisters, Margaret Sue (Merideth) Turley of Miller, Ohio, Kathy Lynn (Roger) Osborne of Marietta, Debbie Mason of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Pam Patterson of Pomeroy; four brothers, James ‘Bud’ (Debbie) Queen Jr. of Pomeroy, Larry (Annette) Queen of Parkersburg, W.Va., Gary Lee (Ruth) Queen of Coolville, Ohio, and Jerry Allen (Lisa) Queen of Coolville, Ohio; one uncle: Bobby (Sharon) Halley of Oak Hill.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, November 18, 2009, at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Rev. Alfred Holley officiating. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home one Tuesday from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Roman Hershberger, Willie Hershberger, Kenny Blazer, Larry Tobias, Ronnie McCarty, and Lee Queen.
