Probation handed down in theft, drug cases

GALLIPOLIS — Guilty pleas recently entered in cases ranging from drugs to theft in Gallia County Common Pleas Court have drawn probation sentences.

Cases recently resolved include:

• Diana M. Knotts, 49, 14920 Ohio 554, Bidwell, was sentenced to 24 months of community control after she pled guilty to one count each of theft, falsification and tampering with records for misusing Gallia County Department of Job and Family Services (JFS) programs.

She was further ordered to pay $7,928 in restitution to JFS, perform 500 hours of community service with all but 60 hours stayed, to register with Ohio Employment Services and pay costs of the prosecution for judgment rendered.

• Rudolph M. Daft, 29, 189 Daft Road, Gallipolis, was sentenced to 24 months of community control after pleading guilty to one count of possession of drugs regarding six Oxycodone tablets.

He was further ordered to perform 500 hours of community service with all but 40 hours stayed, an evaluation by Spectrum Outreach Services, register with Ohio Employment Services, six months suspended operator’s license, and costs of the prosecution for judgment rendered.

• Ellis Fetty, 24, Portsmouth, was sentenced to 24 months of community control after he pled guilty to two counts of theft regarding an 85cc dirt bike and 110cc 4-wheeler stolen from S&S Power Sports and crossbows, arrows, a tree stand, rifle scope and bulldog buckle (release) stolen from Gallipolis Farm & Archery.

He was further ordered to perform 500 hours of community service with all but 60 hours stayed, register with Ohio Employment Services, obtain his GED, and pay costs of the prosecution for judgment rendered.

Indictments recently unsealed include:

• Shakra Davis, 24, 1529 McCormick Road, Gallipolis, has been charged with one count of passing bad checks for allegedly, with purpose to defraud, issuing or causing to be issued a check in the amount of $1,300 payable to Allen Wood on or about Aug. 14, knowing that it would be dishonored.

Davis pled not guilty to the charge and was released on her own recognizance under a $5,000 bond with an additional bond set at $1,000 ten percent secured.

Her jury trial is scheduled for 9 a.m. on March 18, 2010.

• Jess Flemings, 19, 244 McClaskey Road, Vinton, has been charged with one count of receiving stolen property for allegedly receiving, retaining or disposing an EPPI debit card, property of Ariel Geiger, with Flemings knowing or having reasonable cause to believe said property had been obtained through the commission of a theft offense.

Flemings pled not guilty to the charge and was released on his own recognizance under a $5,000 bond with an additional bond set at $1,000 ten percent secured.

His jury trial is scheduled for 9 a.m. on March 4, 2010.
