Burglary suspects plead guilty, now headed to prison

GALLIPOLIS — Two of four suspects charged in connection with a pair of summer burglaries have pled guilty in Gallia County Common Pleas Court and will be serving prison sentences.

Michael A. Writesel, 22, 110 Cora Mill Road, Gallipolis, pled guilty to two counts of burglary for trespassing in the residences of Jay and Sasha Stout and William C. Rogers between June 30 and July 2 with purpose to deprive them of certain property.

He was arrested near a Green Township residence after several neighbors of the Stouts witnessed the break-in and were able to subdue him along with alleged co-defendant, Richard K. Mullins, 23, 675 Pleasant Valley Road, Bidwell.

Writesel was ordered to serve six years in prison for count one and four years in prison for count two of burglary. The sentences are to run concurrently. He was further ordered to pay $100 restitution to the Stouts and $924.25 restitution to Rogers. Pursuant to his guilty plea, charges of possessing criminal tools and theft were dismissed.

Jeremy A. Gibson, 22, 293 Evergreen Road, Bidwell, pled guilty to one count of burglary and was sentenced to four years in prison along with payment of $100 restitution to the Stouts. He is already serving two consecutive 11-month sentences for community control violations in two prior breaking and entering cases.

Pursuant to his guilty plea, one count each of burglary, possessing criminal tools, and theft were dismissed against him.

Other cases recently resolved include:

• David Davidson, 34, Oak Hill, was ordered to serve two eight-month sentences in the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections after he pled guilty in two separate common pleas court cases.

Davidson pled guilty to one count of theft for exerting control over $625, property of Carl and Vicki McCoy, along with one count of possession of drugs regarding four Percocet tablets.

The sentences are to run concurrently as well as any pending cases in Jackson County, according to court records.

• Phillip O. Howell, 31, 653 Third Ave., Gallipolis, was sentenced to 60 months of community control after he pled guilty to one count of tampering with evidence and three counts of possession of drugs.

He was charged with obtaining, possessing, or using one 10-milligram Oxycontin tablet, one 20-milligram Oxycontin tablet, and one Percocet tablet and trying to conceal a silver metal pill container holding Oxycontin, Percocet, and Lorcet.

Howell was further ordered to perform 500 hours of community service with all but 80 hours stayed, an evaluation by Spectrum Outreach Services, six months suspended operator’s license, and costs of the prosecution for judgment rendered.

• Vicki C. Martin, 43, 1836 Ohio 141, Gallipolis, was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine and costs of the action after she pled guilty to one count attempted possession of drugs.

She had initially been charged with two counts possession of drugs regarding six Roxicet pills and two 30-milligram Adderall pills.
