GALLIPOLIS — A Columbus man was arrested for drugs by detectives from the Gallia County Sheriff’s Office Friday evening.

According to Gallia County Sheriff Joe Browning, detectives received information that Taurean T. Ramsey, 31, was allegedly transporting drugs to Gallia County to sell. Detectives followed up on the information by conducting surveillance, which led to the stop of Ramsey.

During a subsequent search, an undisclosed amount of crack cocaine was allegedly recovered. Two search warrants were executed as a result of the seizure and the investigation into this matter continues, Browning said.

Browning added that the Ohio State Highway Patrol assisted detectives with the stop and search of Ramsey, who is currently being held in the Gallia County Jail while awaiting arraignment in Gallipolis Municipal Court.
