POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. — Notice a new restaurant sign as you drive through Point Pleasant? You may even start to see new colors going up on the building at the foot of the bridge.

With the new Halftime Sports Bar & Grill sign replacing the green, white, and orange Bennigan’s sign, many residents have questions about when these changes will take a permanent effect and just what these new transformations mean to Point Pleasant.

According to Halftime’s Manager, Mike Hughes, Bennigan’s will still be open until July 29. Following that, the doors will close for two days with remodeling and new memorabilia decorating the interior. The exterior will also get a new paint job. These modifications are brought about by the bankruptcy filed by Bennigan’s last year, according to Hughes.

With more televisions and a slight makeover, waitress Vanessa Nibert says she believes the different atmosphere will be a “positive change.” She continued by saying, “We want to get the high schools more involved.”

According to Hughes, each wall inside the new business will be dedicated to an area school. The area schools will each have the opportunity to have their own wall space inside to decorate with jerseys, pictures, awards and more.

As far as the alcohol policy is concerned, a sign posted on the entrance door states, “Not selling alcoholic beverages due to the process of securing proper licensing for the new buisness.” Once Halftime receives its license, which Hughes said will be by the opening on July 31, that all alcohol and bar signs will be kept to the bar side only.

The menu has also gone some renovation. Appetizers, burgers, subs and dinners will comprise the new menu. Hughes also said that the baked potato is coming back.

Hughes owns and operates the Halftime Sports Bar & Grill in the Charleston Town Center.

“We hope to continue to have support from those that came to Bennigan’s and to regain the support we may have lost,” Hughes said.
