Jewell’s concert was the third in the Pomeroy’s Blues & Jazz Society’s Rhythm on the River series being held every Friday night through July 24.
Singing mostly country swing and rock-a-billy, Jewell and her band, including drums, acoustic, electric and steel guitars, and bass, with some vocal harmonizing from the drummer, brought plenty of applause from the appreciative audience.
Off-shore were about two dozen boats who moved close in to listen to the young artist who only recently released her third album with the title song “Sea of Tears.”
“Mississippi Heat” featuring harmonica player Pierre Lacocque, will perform next Friday night, and on July 24 to wrap up another summer of free concerts will be the blues and jazz musicians of “Delta Moon.”
To complement the concerts a farmers market is being on the parking lot each week. Flowers and fresh produce, speciality coffees and teas, prepared foods, and arts and crafts are available after 5 p.m. on concert nights.
