GALLIPOLIS — A former little league coach has been charged with two counts of sexual battery and is accused of molesting a number of boys over the last 20 years.
Robert H. Erwin, 66, Gallipolis, is facing charges in connection with allegedly molesting two boys from 1989 to 1991, and is suspected of molesting at least 10 other boys with one incident possibly occurring as recently as a month ago.
According to the Gallia County Sheriff’s Office, detectives began conducting an investigation after a complaint was filed alleging the incidents. Their investigation revealed that Erwin was a youth league athletic coach during the time of the alleged offenses.
As detectives continue to interview victims, the sheriff’s office expects that additional charges will be sought. The Ohio Attorney General’s Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation has been contacted to assist with locating victims who may have since moved out Ohio.
Erwin was arrested on May 22 and charged in Gallipolis Municipal Court. He is currently being housed in the Gallia County Jail.
His case is expected to be presented to the Gallia County grand jury on June 11.
