GALLIPOLIS — Among cases recently addressed in Gallia County Common Pleas Court, four guilty pleas were entered drawing three prison sentences and one intervention in lieu of conviction.
Cases recently resolved include:
• Theron A. Smith, 31, Dayton, was sentenced four years in the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections after he pled guilty to one count possession of drugs regarding a 2006 case in which he was charged with obtaining, possessing, or using 26.4 grams of crack cocaine, a first degree felony.
It was further ordered that Smith pay a $5,000 fine and he shall not participate in any transitional control program or similar program during his incarceration.
• Alfred K. Cordell III, 19, 63 Woodsmill Road, Bidwell, was ordered to serve 11 months in prison after he pled guilty to several community control violations.
Violations include failing to notify his community control officer of law enforcement contact on Feb. 22 and Feb. 28, he was cited for underage consumption in Gallipolis Municipal Court, violated curfew on Feb. 28, consumed alcohol on Feb. 22 and Feb. 28, and was present at an establishment selling alcoholic beverages by the drink, according to court records.
Cordell was sentenced to community control at the end of February after he pled guilty to one count attempted disrupting public service, a lesser offense than disrupting public service for which he was initially charged for impairing telephone service.
• Aaron A. Cordell, 19, 63 Woodsmill Road, Bidwell, was sentenced to 11 months in prison after he pled guilty to numerous community control violations.
Violations include failing to register, obtain employment, or submit verification of employment to his community control officer, failing to report for office visits two times a month, failing to pay supervisory fees, failing to report to Spectrum Outreach for an evaluation, failing to perform community service, and failing to enroll in GED classes as ordered.
Cordell was placed on probation in November 2008 after he pled guilty to one count possession of drugs for obtaining, using, or possessing .51 grams of an Oxycodone.
• Justin M. Wells, 20, South Point, was granted intervention in lieu of conviction after he pled guilty to possession of drugs regarding 455 grams of marijuana.
He was ordered to two years supervision by the Gallia County Adult Probation Department, abide by a plan established by Spectrum Outreach Services, and to forfeit $1,457 and ownership rights of a 2004 Cadillac CTS to the Gallia County Sheriff’s Office.
