Lady Eagles hammer Fed Hock
STEWART — Eastern softball stayed perfect in Tri-Valley Conference Hocking Division play Monday night during a convincing 11-0, six-inning triumph over host Federal Hocking.
The Lady Eagles (4-2, 3-0 TVC Hocking) never trailed in the contest and limited the Lady Lancers to just three hits over the course of the evening, pounding out eight hits and benefiting from seven FHHS errors in the process.
Both teams went scoreless through three complete, but the Green and White exploded for three runs in the top of the fourth to establish a 3-0 cushion. Two hits and a pair of Fed Hock errors allowed the guests to score those trio of runs.
The score stayed that way until the top of the sixth, when EHS sent a dozen batters to the plate en route to scoring eight times for a comfortable 11-0 cushion through five and a half. Eastern had five hits and a walk in that frame, and also benefited from three more FHHS errors.
The hosts — with two outs in the sixth — produced back-to-back hits, but never managed to bring anyone homeward against EHS starter Kasey Turley. Turley allowed just three hits and two walks over six frames, striking out seven in the winning decision.
Cassie Randolph led the EHS offense with three hits and three RBIs, followed by Turley, Haylee Gillian, Britney Morrison, Allie Rawson and Brooke Johnson with a safety each. Megan Carnahan chipped in two RBIs, with Gillian, Morrison, Rawson and Sami Cummins also driving in a run each.
Salyers, Russell and Vinson each had a hit for Fed Hock. Hill went six innings for the hosts in the circle while taking the defeat. Hill walked four and fanned two.

Blue Angels blast Ironton
IRONTON — A six-run third inning ultimately guided the Gallia Academy softball towards another solid outcome Monday night against host Ironton, as the Blue Angels won their 21st consecutive Southeastern Ohio Athletic League South Division contest with a 10-0, five inning decision in Lawrence County.
The Blue Angels (8-1, 5-0 SEOAL South) and Lady Tigers battled though a scoreless tie for two complete innings, but the guests countered big-time in the top of the third by sending nine batters to the plate — which resulted in six runs on three hits, two walks and a hit batsman.
GAHS also tacked on three runs in the fourth and one more in the fifth for a 10-0 advantage, which was more than enough for starter Amy Noe. Noe allowed just two hits and zero walks over five frames, striking out nine in the winning decision.
Alli Saunders led the Gallia Academy offense with three hits, while Noe, Kimber Davis, Brittyn Saunders and Calyssa Mayes adding a safety apiece. Davis led the way with two RBIs, followed by Noe, both Saunders and Mayes with one each.
Collins took the loss for IHS, allowing six walks while striking out six over five frames. Nikki Elswick and Jordan Scott each had a hit for the hosts.

Lady ’Does smack Miller
CORNING — Scoring eight runs in the first inning the Southern Lady Tornadoes (2-7) defeated the Miller Lady Falcons 15-2 Monday night during girlsí Tri-Valley Conference Hocking Division softball action. Southern got back on the winning track with the win, breaking a six game skid in the process.
Southern went up 8-0 in the first inning as Coach Kelly Papeís gals blitzed the Lady Falcons with a combination of walks, errors and hard-hit balls. Bre Taylor led off the game with a hard hit ball to short that resulted in an error, Emma Hunter and Cheyene Dunn each walked, Kelsey Holsinger reached on an error, Chelsea Pape singled, and three straight walks went to Lindsay Teaford, Katie Woods, and Chelsi Ritchie. A base-clearing single by Taylor brought home three runs and Taylor scored on when Hunter reached on an error.
Miller cam back with a run in the bottom of the first and also one in the second, 8-2, but Southern broke the game open with a single run in the third and five-run fourth inning. Holsinger, Lynzee Tucker, and Teaford all singled in the fray, as Southern bolted to a 14-2 advantage. Southern added a single run in the fifth for the five inning mercy.
Southern hitters were Teaford and Tucker with a single and double each, while Pape, Taylor, Hunter, Dunn, , and Holsinger each singled. Teaford had three RBIís, while Tucker, Pape, and Taylor each had two RBIs. Miller hitters were Toth and Hand.
Taylor was the winning pitcher and and Jenni Hand suffered the loss.
Southern hosts South Gallia Tuesday, has a possible make-up with Eastern on Wednesday, then plays Eastern in a regularly scheduled game Thursday.
