GALLIPOLIS — It’s time again … time to change the batteries in your smoke detectors.
Working smoke detectors save lives, there is no disputing it.
Keith Elliott, Gallipolis Fire Chief said in the past year, the Gallipolis Fire Department has responded to several house fires where the lives of residents were saved by having working smoke detectors. The Gallipolis Fire Department recommends that the batteries in your detectors be changed twice each year.
Elliott reminds residents that an easy way to remember is to change detector batteries whenever you change your clocks to “spring forward” or “fall back” for Daylight Savings Time.
The fire department also recommends that detectors be replaced every ten years, Elliott said.
