GALLIPOLIS — The French Art Colony (FAC), regional multi-arts center will host art work created by local students for the next two months.

Beginning this Friday, March 8, The Gallia County Local Schools’ Art Show will be on display in the FAC galleries, front hall and downstairs classroom. The show will run through Sunday, March 31. The Gallipolis City Schools’ Art Show will follow during the month of April.

A public reception will be held celebrating the opening of the Gallia County Local Schools’ Art Show on Friday, March 8, from 5-7 p.m. Admission to the reception and gallery exhibits throughout the run is free.

Joseph Wright, FAC executive director, is enthusiastic about hosting the exhibits.

“We are honored to host the art work of our many talented area students,” said Wright. “We see so much color in our galleries during the school exhibits, not to mention a boost in attendance with proud family members of the young artists.”

Dr. Charla Evans, superintendent of the Gallia County Local Schools, offered a statement regarding the partnership with the FAC.

“For years, the French Art Colony has supported the artistic development of school-age students,” said Evans. “The collaboration provides students with another venue to have their work appreciated. We are grateful for the support of this community organization and the staff.”

The FAC galleries are open Tuesday through Friday, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.; Saturday, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.; and Sunday, from 1-5 p.m. For more information, call 740-446-3834.

The Ohio Arts Council helped fund this organization with state tax dollars to encourage economic growth, educational excellence and cultural enrichment for all Ohioans.
