Precautionary boil advisory in effect

Due to a main line water break, the City of Gallipolis is issuing a boil advisory for all 3,000 customers on the City Water System. We are advising all residents using the City Water that until further notice, all consumers vigorously boil, for at least three (3) minutes, any water used for drinking (including water used to make ice), cooking or oral hygiene.

The City of Gallipolis has no evidence at this time that the water system is contaminated. The possibility does exist, however, that the water system is contaminated and is issuing this advisory as a precaution.

The Maintenance Department is expecting to have the line repaired by 6:00 pm December 23, 2012 and the Water Treatment Plant will be collecting water samples once the water line repair is completed. It will require 24 hours for testing after the samples are taken. An additional notice will be given when the water advisory is lifted. For further information check the City of Gallipolis website at cityofgallipolis.com or contact the City of Gallipolis Utility Office at (740) 441-6006.

We apologize for any inconvenience this advisory may cause.

Randall J. Finney,

City Manager

City of Gallipolis
