Doris E. Montgomery, 96, of Gallipolis and formerly of Crown City, passed away at 11:50 p.m. Wednesday, December 12, 2012, at Holzer Assisted Living, Bidwell. Born August 2, 1916, in Guyan Township, she was the daughter of the late James and Myrtie Martin Barry. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her seven grandchildren, Jamie (Dan) Eplin of Gallipolis, Heidi (Russ) Rose of Crown City, Jason (Carita) Montgomery of Crown City, Randy Clary Montgomery of Gallipolis, Debby (Jeff) Glessner of Harrisburg, Pa., Brian (Elaine) Montgomery Great Falls, Mont., and Valerie (Michael) Sayre, of Clayton, N.C.; her twenty two great-grandchildren, Jodi Silva, Brady (Sara) Burnette, Jon (Kim) Eplin, Nicole (Scott) Clary, Sarah Eplin, Darcey Brumfield, Damon Lee Hill, Kegan Rose, Shaylee Rose, Dallas Craft, Desiree Montgomery, Amanda Chestnut, Jason Knight, Brandon Montgomery, Aaron Grubb, Joshua Grubb, Jesse Grubb, Danny Glessner, Jackie Glessner, Jake Glessner, Liam Sayre, Gracie Sayre; great-great grandchildren, Eden Silva, Ashton Silva, Leylah Eplin, Julian Eplin, Kylee Clary, Bryson Clary, Hunter Chestnut, Emily Stokes; former daughters-in-law, Norena Montgomery and Vickie Montgomery Parsons; grandson-in-law, Neale Knight; granddaughter-in-law, Tande Rose. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mervin Earl Montgomery on November 28, 1990; her three sons, Stanley Montgomery, James M. Montgomery and Glenn Montgomery; a grandson, Steve Montgomery; a granddaughter, Marcia Knight; great-grandsons, Randall Clary and Noble Dale Saunders; a granddaughter-in-law, Melinda Montgomery; brothers and sisters, Stanley Barry, Carl Barry, Earl Barry, Dale Barry, Kathlene Martin, Bessie Sheets, Alden Barry, Lloyd Barry, Marie Barry, Homer Barry and Owen Barry.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 17, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the Cremeens Funeral Chapel, Gallipolis, with Pastor Alfred Holley officiating. Interment will follow in the Good Hope Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
