Norman C. “Pete” Martin, 87, of Gallipolis, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2012, at his residence.

He was born April 19, 1925, in Clarksburg, West Virginia, son of the late Claude R. and Dessie J. Pittman Martin. Pete was married for 39 years to Annabelle Peterson Martin in 1953 and she preceded him in death on March 11, 1991.

Pete moved to Detroit, Michigan, in 1941. He was a WWII Army veteran and served in the Army Medical Corp. After the war, he returned to Michigan. He worked as a master mechanic for Chevrolet Gear and Axle for thirty years. He retired in 1980 and returned to Gallipolis. He was a member of Automobile Local 325 of Detroit, Michigan, and Moose Lodge #731 of Point Pleasant, West Virginia. He enjoyed wood carving.

Surviving are his companion for over 20 years, Annabel Richardson of Gallipolis; his two sons, Ronald Lee (Kristina) Martin of Gallipolis and David Maynard of Phoenix, Arizona; a daughter, Debra (Tom) Bankston of Laurel, Mississippi; one grandson, Adam Burgess of Royal Oak, Michigan; a sister-in-law, Leslie Martin of Jackson, California; and a cousin, Bascum Pittman of Marietta, Georgia.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Annabelle Peterson Martin, Pete was preceded in death by a brother, Willard C. Martin.

Services will be 3:30 p.m., Sunday, December 9, 2012, at the Willis Funeral Home with Chaplain Bob Hood officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-3:30 p.m. prior to the funeral. There will be a flag presentation at the funeral. Burial will be Monday, December 10, 2012, at the Workman Cemetery in Danville, Ohio.
