Joanna Burdette Crawford of Gallipolis passed away October 13, 2012, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born August 31, 1932, near Raccoon Island on Lower River Road in Gallia County to the late Otho and Virginia Northup Burdette. Joanna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Buford Crawford; and her brothers, Otho, Jr. and Newman Burdette. She was a 1950 graduate of Gallia Academy High School and had spent the past forty years living in Texas with her late husband.

She is survived by her sister, Marilyn (Ted) Holstein of Cincinnati; her six children, Steve (Robin) Jagers of Gallipolis, Richard Jagers of Gallipolis, Jeff Jagers of Nashville, Tenn., Jay (Karen) Jagers of Clarkesville, Tenn., Julie (Chris) Monaghan of Pa., and Lisa Brickey of Huntington, W.Va.; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

There will be no calling hours with a private memorial service to be set at a later date. Willis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the local Alzheimer’s association.
