Willa Juanita Petrie, 86, of South Bloomfield, Ohio, formerly of Rio Grande, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at Mt. Carmel West Hospital, Columbus, Ohio.

She was born July 6, 1926, in Lawrence County, Ohio, the eldest of five children of the late Earl and Opal Dunfee Bennett. Juanita married Franklin C. Petrie, Sr., and he preceded her in death on February 8, 1998. She worked for Sylvania Corp in Huntington, W.Va. and later became a homemaker. Juanita was a member of Perkins Ridge Baptist Church of Willow Wood, Ohio, and a long-standing member of the Ohio Eastern Star of Proctorville, Ohio.

Juanita was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed helping with civic and community events.

Juanita will be greatly missed by her children, Franklin C. ( Carolyn) Petrie, Jr. of Rio Grande, Ohio, Jeffrey A. (Benita) Petrie of Medway, Ohio, and Jennifer A. Petrie of South Bloomfield, Ohio; four grandchildren, Brandy Petrie (Gary) Mount of Grove City, Gus (Pernilla) Petrie of Sweden, Justin (Lacey) Russell of Concord, NC and Doug Russell, of Topsail Island, NC; and four great-grandchildren, Tristan Mount, William Petrie, Zeb Petrie and Lenox Russell; sisters, Geneva Patrick of Crown City, and Mary (Wendell) Pinkerman of Willow Wood, Ohio; brother, Gene (Violet) Bennett of Ashland, Kentucky; and brother-in-law, Bob Wade of South Point, Ohio.

In addition to her parents and husband, Franklin C. Petrie, Sr., Juanita was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Wade.

The family would like to thank all those that have touched Juanita’s life. She loved God, life, family and friends. We would also like to thank everyone that helped her through their encouragement and care.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday, October 5, 2012, at the Willis Funeral Home in Gallipolis, Ohio, with Rev. Cleo Watson officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery, Rio Grande, Ohio. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, October 4, 2012.
