Donald R. “Don” Ford, age 73, of Gallipolis, died Saturday evening, September 22, 2012, at Holzer Medical Center. Born March 15, 1939, in Good Hope, Illinois, he was the son of the late Enoch and Pansy Duncan Ford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by a son, Donald R. Ford; by a daughter, Terry Williams; and by four sisters and two brothers.

Don was a United State Air Force Veteran. He was a retired truck driver, and a member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church.

Don loved to work in his yard and build and fix things in his shop. He was also devoted to his dachshunds.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Henry Ford; a daughter, Jill (Michael) Schwarberg of Columbus; five grandchildren, Michael, Christopher, Dawn, Trisha and Paula; a sister, Karen Cooper of Fort Madison, Iowa; a very special sister-in-law, Roberta Ford of Bushnell, Ill.; and his mother-in-law, Hazel Henry of Gallipolis. Also surviving is numerous great-grandchildren, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Workman officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from noon until the time of service. Burial will be at a later date at the convenience of the family.

Military Funeral Honors will be presented at the funeral home on Wednesday by the Gallia County Veterans Service Detail.
