Wahama wins tri at Oxbow, tops Rebels and Eagles

BELPRE, Ohio — The Wahama White Falcon varsity golf team closed out their Tri-Valley Conference Hocking Division season with a victory over Eastern and a non-conference win over South Gallia in a tri-match held at the Oxbow Golf Course.

The conference win gives the White Falcons a share of second place with Waterford. Both teams finished with Conference records of 13-3. Belpre won the championship with a perfect season of 16-0.

Wahama’s final score in the tri-match was a 172. South Gallia was second for the contest with a total of 176 while Eastern’s final tally was 182. The format used was play six, count four.

Wahama was paced by two of their seniors, Dakota Sisk and Samuel Gordon with identical scores of 41. Junior Michael Hendricks added a 42 and another Junior, Benjamin Foreman posted a score of 48. Two Freshmen, Mason Hicks and Nolan Pierce also played for the Wahama team.

South Gallia’s Gus Slone shot a 40 to lead his team and also win medalist honors for the match. Seth Jarrell and Ethan Swain were just a stroke behind Slone, with scores of 41 each Cuyler Mills added a 54 to round out the scores that counted. Kylie Haisslop also played for the second place team.

Eastern had four of its five golfers shoot scores under 50 giving the Eagles one of their better team scores of the year. David Warner posted a 43 to lead his team. A stroke behind was Derick Powell with a 44. Josh Parker added a 46 while Kyle Young shot 49 for the 4th score that counted for Eastern. Marshall Aanestad also played with his score not counting in the final tally.
