ADDISON TWP. — Another meth lab was discovered in Gallia County this weekend, bringing the total to four meth labs discovered in the county in less than a month.

The latest discovery occurred on Saturday, September 8 at a residence located at 32 Springer Road in Addison Township.

Deputies with the Gallia County Sheriff’s Office responded to the residence after receiving tips that the residents of the household were manufacturing methamphetamine.

While investigating the complaint, deputies observed items commonly used during the manufacture of meth in plain view on the porch of the residence. A subsequent search of the home led to the seizure of an active meth lab, as well as finished meth product.

Technicians with the Gallia County Sheriff’s Office, trained to neutralize active meth labs, disabled the lab with the assistance of the Gallipolis Fire Department and Gallia County EMS.

Arrested at the scene were Semaki G. Corfias, 52, Ralph R. Kerwood, 28, and Michelle L. Atherton, 40, all of Gallipolis.

All three suspects were found in the home and were charged in connection with the discovery of the lab.

During hearings on Monday in the Gallipolis Municipal Court, all three suspects were charged with the illegal manufacture of drugs, a second degree felony.

Their bonds were set at $200,000, 10 percent.

Last month, meth labs were discovered and neutralized at residences on Story’s Run Road in Cheshire Township and Burnett Road in the Kanauga area. A third meth lab was found disposed in an area near Johnson’s Ridge Road in Addison Township.

Arrested in connection with the discovery of the meth lab on Story’s Run Road on August 15 were Travis Klein, 23, Lisa J. Klein, 43, and Ashley L. Hamilton, 28, all of 908 Story’s Run.

All three suspects have been charged with the illegal manufacture of drugs.

The meth lab at the Burnett Road residence was discovered on August 22 after deputies received an anonymous citizen complaint alleging that an active meth lab was located at the residence.

A “shake and bake” meth lab was found inside the home, along with paraphernalia indicating that illegal drugs had been manufactured and used within the residence.

The meth lab was neutralized and disposed of by meth lab technicians.

The names of possible suspects in this case have not been released.

According to the police report, the manufacturing was occurring at the home in the presence of two juveniles, ages eight and nine years.

In an unrelated case, an abandoned meth lab was neutralized by deputies on August 18 following the discovery of the “one pot” lab near Johnson’s Ridge Road in Addison Township.

Deputies were dispatched to the area after an abandoned duffel bag was found disposed over the guard rail.

Further investigation of the package led to the discovery of the lab that was later neutralized and removed from the area by deputies.

No arrests have been made in connection with the discovery of this lab.
