Verbie O. Waugh, 79, of Crown City, passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at her residence.

She was born October 17, 1932, in Crown City, daughter of the late Peter and Margie (Hunt) Parsons. She married John Lee Waugh on January 17, 1950, and he preceded her in death October 1, 1994. Verbie was a member of Victory Baptist Church.

She is survived by four children, Harold Lee (Sandy) Waugh of Athalia, Brenda (Steve) Sanders, Linda Watson and Mike (Karen) Waugh, all of Crown City; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren; four sisters, Lona (Tunnie) Clary, Dollie Mooney, Gracie Caldwell and Naomi (Cis) Whitt; and special companion “Rosie”.

In addition to her parents and her husband, John Lee Waugh, Verbie was preceded in death by an infant son, John Lee, Jr., and four brothers, Leslie, Wilmer, Sherman and Arvil Parsons.

Services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, September 8, 2012, at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Alfred Holley officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, September 7, 2012, from 6-9 p.m.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandchildren.
