Freddie Lee Hayes, Sr., 75, of Scottown, Ohio, passed away doing what he loved best, going after produce Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, W.Va.

He was born October 11, 1936, in Lawrence County, Ohio, son of the late William and Virginia Dunfee Hayes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Hayes and Glen Hayes; and one sister, Betty Hayes. He is survived by one son, Freddie, Jr., and his wife Bethany Hayes of Proctorville, Ohio; Freddie, Jr.’s mother, PattyHayes; two special granddaughters, Kayla and Meranda Hayes; a special friend, Althaliene Alberts; and so many great and special friends too numerous to name individually.

He owned and operated Chesapeake Ford and Huntington fruit and produce terminal. He was a retired superintendent from Symmes Valley High School. Freddie, Sr.’s greatest passion for the last 60 years was selling produce and all of his customers and friends he met there. Freddie, Sr. was loved dearly and will be missed by all who knew him.

Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m., Saturday, September 8, 2012, at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, Ohio, by Pastor Ray Vance. Burial will follow in Perkins Ridge Cemetery, Willow Wood, Ohio. Visitation will be held 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, September 8, 2012, at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, Ohio.

Pallbearers will be Rusty Hunt, David Rowe, Danny Holschuh, Sonny Dornon, Kenny Artrip, Dave Bennett, Rick Love, J.D. Johnson and Brent Gool.
