On the morning of Sept. 1, 2012, Bette Jean Davis passed on peacefully at Heartland of Jackson. Born on July 26, 1925, she was educated at Gettysburg College and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and later a Master’s Degree in Art Education at Towson University. She then certified as a Art Therapist.
Married on July 29, 1947, to Richard Schlottman, Jr., she is survived by children, Lindsey Waite, Dr. Richard Schlottman, Kathleen Creighton, and Dee Magnaterra. In addition, she is survived by nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Bette Jean taught art in elementary school in Baltimore City and was an artist, photographer and raised thoroughbred horses on her Maryland farm.
Special thanks to the excellent care received her last hours at Heartland of Jackson by Candice, Wanda and her nursing assistants on duty 8/31/2012 – 09/01/2012. The evening nursing assistants were Korrina, and Tonya and the night aides were Sue and Carolyn. The morning she passed, Tonya again cared for her with Rida.
Holly from Holzer Hospice made certain that my mother was comfortable with every detail anticipated to provide this comfort. Fred, Holzer Health Systems Chaplin, gave spiritual support in the early morning hours promptly after a 4:30 a.m. call.
A private service will be conducted on the family farm at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements were conducted by Lewis-Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson.
