BIDWELL — An Oak Hill man charged in a June burglary of a home in northern Gallia County has been arraigned in a second felony case related to end-of-July break-ins at two businesses located in Spring Valley.

William S. Zinn, 29, was recently arraigned and charged with two counts of breaking and entering and two counts of theft in the Common Pleas Court of Gallia County for incidents that occurred on July 31 at Baxter’s Harley Davidson and Bridgeport Equipment and Tool.

Deputies with the Gallia County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Baxter’s Harley Davidson, located at 1928 Jackson Pike, on July 31 and later became involved in the investigation of a break-in at the store.

It was earlier reported that a 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle, $10,000 in leather and jewelry and an undisclosed amount of cash were taken from the shop.

According to the original criminal complaint filed with the Gallipolis Municipal Court in this case, while processing the scene at the Harley shop, individuals from nearby Bridgeport Equipment, located at 668 Pinecrest Drive, arrived at the scene and informed the officers that their store had also been broken into.

The items stolen from Baxter’s Harley Davidson and some of the items taken from Bridgeport were reportedly later recovered by deputies.

Zinn was arrested on July 31 and later appeared for a preliminary hearing in the Gallipolis Municipal Court where his case was bound over to the common pleas court.

He was later indicted by a grand jury on the felony charges.

During his recent arraignment before Common Pleas Judge D. Dean Evans, Zinn pleaded not guilty to breaking into Baxter’s Harley and Bridgeport Equipment on July 31 and also entered not guilty pleas to two counts of theft for the alleged theft of $40,000 in personal property from the Harley shop and $30,000 of property from Bridgeport.

His bond has been set at $30,000, 10 percent, and public defender Barbara Wallen has been appointed to this case.

The defendant is currently being held in the Gallia County Jail.

Arraignments are pending against additional suspects who are facing charges relating to the break-ins at Baxter’s Harley Davidson and Bridgeport Equipment and Tool.

In an earlier 2012 case, Zinn pleaded not guilty to entering a residence located on Pleasant Valley Road in Raccoon Township.

According to the complaint, the victim reported a burglary to the sheriff’s office on June 17 and also told the responding officer that he had a camera set up inside his residence. He had reportedly captured pictures of the defendant inside the home.

Zinn was later arrested in relation to this case and was arraigned on June 28. His bond was set at 15,000, own recognizance, with an additional $1,500, 10 percent, bond. The defendant posted bond for his release following this arraignment hearing on June 28.

A jury trial in this case and in Zinn’s latest case has been set for October 23 in the common pleas courtroom.
