VINTON COUNTY — A Gallia County woman was killed in a fatal crash that occurred in Vinton County on Monday.
Wendy N. Wolford, 25, of Vinton, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by Vinton County Coroner Dr. Rebecca Houston.
The single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 2:31 p.m. on August 27 on County Road 26A west of Minerton Road and southwest of Wilkesville in Vinton County.
The Jackson Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to the scene of the incident after they received a report of a serious injury crash on Buckeye Branch Road (CR 26A) in Wilkesville Township.
Once on scene, an investigation revealed that a 1999 Saturn SL had driven off the roadway and had rolled over onto its top.
Reportedly, two rear passengers, Alfred K. Cordell, Jr., 41, of Bidwell, and his son, Dakota Cordell, received minor injuries. They refused treatment and were released at the scene.
According to the highway patrol, Wolford was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.
Preliminary investigation indicates that another occupant was in the vehicle, but left the scene of the incident.
The crash remains under investigation and no further information has been released.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol further reminded all motorist to wear their safety restraints, drive safely and obey all traffic laws.
