Olive Mae Kemper, 86, Bidwell, Ohio, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2012, in Holzer Senior Care, Bidwell. She was a loving mother and homemaker who was born March 10, 1926, in Ward, W.Va., daughter of the late Granville McCormick and Gracie Mae Hatfield McCormick. Olive was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Porter and attended the old Countryside Baptist Church in Evergreen.
She married Wallace E. Kemper on July 11, 1946, in Gallia County, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on December 19, 1992. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Tommy Kemper; brothers, Robert, Harry Ray, Douglas and Charles McCormick; and sister, Margaret McCormick. In addition, she was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, David Secoy, Walter Blazer, Garland “Kemp” Kemper and William Burnett; and sisters-in-law, Ruth and Judy McCormick and Mary K. Lane.
Surviving are one son and two daughters, James (Marjorie) Kemper, Bidwell, Ohio; Carol (Phillip) Powell, Bidwell, Ohio and Gloria Staker, Springfield, Ohio; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers and one sister, Eugene (Karon) McCormick, Pataskala, Ohio; Harold (Peggy) McCormick, WY and Mildred Blazer, FL; three brothers-in-law, William L. (Barbara) Kemper, Jr., Bidwell, Ohio, Charles (Donna) Kemper, SC and Quentin Lane, Gallipolis; and two sisters-in-law, Janet (Pat) Miller and Frances Secoy, both of Bidwell, Ohio.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, 420 First Ave, Gallipolis, Ohio, with Pastor Pat Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Bidwell, Ohio. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to services on Tuesday.
