GALLIPOLIS — A Monday afternoon fire that consumed a house located south of Gallipolis remains under investigation.
Dispatchers with Gallia County 911 were first made aware of the fire at the residence located on Ohio 7 South in Clay Township, approximately three miles south of the intersection of Ohio 7 and Ohio 218, at approximately 11:45 a.m. on Monday.
Firefighters with the Gallipolis Fire Department were dispatched to the location and, reportedly, had four apparatuses on scene during the fire.
Mutual aid was also received from the District 2 Fire Department, which provided two additional trucks.
Officials with the fire department, reportedly, remained on the scene of the fire — which destroyed both the residence and adjacent garage on the property — until approximately 7:20 p.m. on Monday.
According to Gallipolis Fire Department Station Firefighter Mike Null, no injuries were reported as a result of the fire, but Gallia County EMS remained on standby as a precaution.
Investigators with the Ohio Division of State Fire Marshal have been contacted to examine the remnants of the home and determine a cause of the fire.
No further information has been released by officials concerning the incident.
