GALLIA COUNTY — The Gallia County Veterans Service Commission recently approved the issuing of veteran identification cards to veterans who were “Honorably Discharged” from military service.
To qualify for the ID card, the veteran must be a resident of Gallia County, “Honorably Discharged” and meet the definition of a veteran as described in Ohio Revised Code 5901. The DD-214 must show “Honorably Discharged”, with no exceptions.
Keith Jeffers, executive director of the Gallia County Veterans Service Center, said the move was in response to requests from veterans who wanted an additional form of ID or who wanted to take advantage of discounts offered at area retailers and restaurants.
Veterans can obtain an ID card by bringing a copy of their DD-214 and another photo ID to the Gallia County Veterans Service Center at 323 Upper River Road “Suite B”, Gallipolis, Ohio between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Thursday of any week. Thursday of each week will be the only day the cards are issued.
