Dugan Adkins, 90, Patriot, Ohio, passed away in Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis, on Saturday, July 21, 2012. He was a WWII Army Medic serving in several countries, and he was also a retired employee of the General Motors Delco Morine.
Mr. Adkins was born Feb. 22, 1922, in Tennessee, son of the late William and Maudie Yount Adkins. Preceding him in death was his wife, Edna Mae Thornsburry Adkins in 2001 and one son, Doug Adkins.
He is survived by seven children, Michael “Butch” (Linda) Adkins, Fairborn, Ohio, Shirle Kay Adkins, Jackson, Ohio, James Randall (Joanna) Adkins, Bidwell, Ohio, Donald (Janette) Adkins, South Point, Ohio, Carol Pitchford, Middleport, Ohio, Jack (Chris) Adkins, Hollandburg, Ohio, and Kenny (Mary) Adkins, Dayton, Ohio.
Also surviving are several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m., Friday, July 27, 2012, at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home. Vinton, with Pastor Eugene Harmon officiating.
Burial will follow in the Centerpoint Cemetery near Thurman. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Gallia County Veteran Service Organizations.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday one hour prior to the service.
