ADDISON — A Gallipolis man was life-flighted to a Huntington-area hospital on Sunday afternoon following a single vehicle crash in northern Gallia County.

According to the investigating trooper with the Gallipolis Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Clinton Shelton, 25, Gallipolis, was taken to Saint Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va., on Sunday with injuries sustained as a result of the crash.

Emergency responders were dispatched at 12:20 p.m. on Sunday to the scene of the incident located on Addison Pike approximately one mile from the intersection of Addison Pike and Ohio 7 in Addison Township.

According to the trooper, Shelton, the driver of a 2001 Volvo station wagon, traveled off of the roadway, hit a guide wire and struck a tree. No other passengers were present in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The case remains under investigation and the highway patrol could not confirm whether alcohol or drugs played a factor in the incident.

No information on the driver’s condition was available at press time.
