RUTLAND TWP. — Crews are on scene of a single engine plane crash near New Lima Road early Friday afternoon.

According to Danny Davis, of the Rutland Fire Department, a red and white single engine plane was located by fire fighters near Zion Road in a wooded area. A single victim was reportedly dead on arrival

The Rutland Fire Department, Meigs EMS, Meigs Sheriff’s Office and the Ohio Stat Highway Patrol, responded to a call around 11:30 a.m. on Friday morning of a low flying plane which crashed after the engine stalled.

Davis said fire fighters were out on seven four-wheelers searching between the areas of Zion Church Road, Smith Run and New Lima Road in an attempt to locate the crash around noon on Friday. A staging area has been set up at Fort Meigs.
