RIO GRANDE — The French Art Colony’s Riverby Theater Guild will present the family outdoor drama, “Laura Ingalls Wilder; Voice of the Prairie”, July 27, 28 and 29 at the Bob Evans Farm Amphitheater, in Rio Grande. The play with music, by Kathryn Schultz Miller, tells the amazing life story of the creator of the beloved, “Little House on the Prairie” book series.
A team of local actors, led by production director, Lori Sanders, will recreate the various stages of Wilder’s life; from her time as a young girl, to meeting her husband, Almonzo, to becoming one of America’s most treasured authors. The heartwarming and uplifting stories will be woven together with traditional songs from the era sung by the “Walnut Grove Chorus.” Accompaniment for the show will be provided by musicians, Kendra Ward and Bob Bence.
Tickets for the performance may be purchased in advance from the French Art Colony or the Bob Evans Farm Homestead Museum. Tickets will also be available at the gate. Those attending are asked to park near the performance space by using the Bob Evans Farm entrance across from the windmill. Guests should bring lawn chairs. Seating is not provided.
Performances are at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, July 27 and 28, and at 3 p.m., Sunday, July 29. Gates will open 90 minutes prior to performance. Limited concessions will be available for purchase.
