Robert “Bob” A. Hood, age 69, loving husband, dad, and papa, of Midwest City, Okla., peacefully passed away on July 14, 2012, to be with God in Heaven. He was born on January 26, 1943, in Gallipolis, Ohio, to Harold and Ida Mae Hood and was the middle of five children.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jim Hood. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Janis Hood, as well as his brother, Larry Hood, and sisters, Grace See and Debbie Rose and their spouses.
He was dad to seven children, Leah Bland, Lora Lester, Carey Wright, Sarah Blazer, Brandy Trotter, Patrick Saxton and Darrick Saxton. He was papa to sixteen grandchildren, Josh, Jake, Jessie, Lacey, Layna, Sam, Makenzie, Adam, Ashley, Garrett, Tyler, Breana, Jordan, Peyton, Parker and Presley and one great-granddaughter, Aubree. He was Bob to many more who had the honor of knowing him.
Bob served his country in the USAF for 22 years after which he worked for the National Weather Service in Norman, Okla., where he had many great friends until his retirement in 1996. He was a Mason and devoted member of the India Shrine Temple where he dedicated many hours of service. He also spent much of his time volunteering in his community and was founder and President of the Three Oaks Neighborhood Watch Program. He was an active Sunday school member of Country Estates Baptist Church and often helped in the daycare rocking babies, assisted in special services, and always brought donuts and smiles.
The family would like to give a special thank you to his heart doctor of 26 years, Dr. Jerome Mathias and RN Tracy Love. We appreciate your care and friendship. We would also like to thank the staff at Hospice Quality Care for their compassion and service.
