Arnold G. Pitchford, 77, Thurman, passed away at 6:55 a.m., Saturday, July 7, 2012, in Holzer Medical Center. Born August 12, 1934, in Liberty, West Virginia, he was the son of the late John and Belva Davis Pitchford. He was retired as a glass packer from Libby Owens Glass Corp. in Kanawha City, W.Va.
Surviving is his wife, Janet Y. Mallett Pitchford, whom he married December 11, 1953, at Tyler Mountain, W.Va.; three daughters, Vicky L. McCoy, Leon, W.Va., Bridget Stephens, Point Pleasant, W.Va., and Arlene Martin, Gallipolis; one son, Jeremy Pitchford, Point Pleasant; grandchildren, Christopher (Sarah) Cooper, Valerie (Dean) Mays, Jason (Virginia) Cooper, Brandon Armstrong, Samuel (Becky) Stephens, Nicholas (Trish) Stephens, Tyler Martin, Michaela Martin and Cheyenne Pitchford; great-grandchildren, Xavier Cooper, Aiden Cooper, Madison Cooper, Trevor Dale, Cameron Cooper, Lexi Stephens, Kayden Stephens, Isaac Stephens, Nathan Mays, A.J. Mays, Ethan Mays, Brayden Martin and Bryant Martin; four brothers, William Pitchfield, Red House, W.Va., Richard (Lorene) Pitchford, Dunbar, W.Va., Carl (Joyce) Pitchford, Sissonville, W.Va., and Delbert (Nancy) Pitchford, Eleanor, W.Va.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Dealyn Cooper.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, July 11, 2012, in the Liberty Cemetery, Liberty, W.Va., with Jerry Ransom officiating. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, at the Cremeens Funeral Chapel.
