GALLIA COUNTY — A much needed supply of bottled water is still available to those individuals in need throughout the county and will distributed for a limited time on the Independence Day Holiday.
According to the Gallia County Emergency Operations’ Center (EOC), water will be distributed at the Gallia County Senior Citizens Center on Ohio 160 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on July 4.
Distribution points at the Crown City Fire Department on Ohio 7 South and Springfield Township Fire Department on Ohio 554 will be closed on the holiday.
Distribution times for July 5 will be announced later.
The water was received by the Gallia County Emergency Management Agency in several tractor trailer loads and is only being distributed to Gallia County residents.
Due to the limited supply, each resident seeking the water may be required to answer questions regarding their residency or access to drinking water. Residents will receive one case of water for two people.
Ice is reportedly not available at these locations.
Residents are encouraged to call the EOC at (740) 446-0068 with questions about ice availability.
According to a release issued by the EOC, water should have been restored to Gallia Rural Water customers who experienced loss of water due to pump failure.
There were no boil advisories issued as of Tuesday afternoon.
For more information contact the Gallia Rural Water Association at (740) 446-9221.
The EOC further reported that a cooling station at the senior center will remain open until 4 p.m. daily throughout the week.
Additionally, Gallia County 911 lines are now working and have remained stable.
