GALLIPOLIS -- The Gallipolis River Recreation Festival will proceed as planned beginning Tuesday, July 3 and ending Saturday, July 7, according to Lorie Neal, IOM, Executive Director of the Gallia County Chamber of Commerce and Festival Coordinator. If electricity to the Gallipolis City Park is not restored by Tuesday, plans are in place to move forward regardless.

Neal said amusement rides are self-contained and come with a very large generator. A generator will be brought in to power the stage so entertainers (music) can still perform at their scheduled times. Some modifications may occur, but Neal said the major events will still take place, barring any unforeseen catastrophes.

"The Chamber and the River Recreation Festival Committee are thankful for support of the City of Gallipolis and for their fast action in getting the park cleaned up after Friday's storm," said Neal. "We also thank Michael Reisinger, owner of Michael's Amusements, for working with us under less than ideal circumstances, Bill Heaberlin with Media Promotions for his quick assistance in finding a generator for the stage and all our local media for helping us get the word out."
