BIDWELL — A fire that destroyed a local church earlier this week remains under investigation by the Ohio Division of State Fire Marshal.
The fire that consumed Clark Chapel Church, located at 1348 Clark Chapel Road in Morgan Township near Bidwell, began at 1:29 a.m. on Monday, June 25.
Reportedly, firefighters with the Springfield Township Fire Department (District 12) responded to the scene and were assisted by the Rio Grande Volunteer Fire Department (District 4) while on scene.
Officials with Buckeye Rural Electric were also contacted due to the report of arcing power lines.
According to the Gallia County 911 Dispatch Center, the last district 12 truck cleared the scene of the fire at 4:08 a.m.
A unit with the Division of State Fire Marshal was later called to investigate the incident.
On Thursday, an official with the fire marshal’s office would only report that the case remains under investigation.
No further information about the cause of the fire was available at press time.
