James Paul “Woody” Wood, age 55, of Bidwell, died Sunday, June 24, 2012, at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington. Born January 27, 1957, in Columbus, Ohio, he was the son of Clifford H. Wood and the late Neta V. Pool Wood. In addition to his mother, he was preceded by his daughter, Paula M. Wood; grandparents, Clifford and Zella Wood and Ida Pool.
James was retired from GKN Corporation after 30 years of service as a Machine Operator. He attended French City Baptist Church. He was member of the Masonic Lodge in Kingston (Logan Elm Lodge), was a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason with the Valley of Columbus, member of Aladdin Temple Shrine in Columbus, and was also a member of the Ross County Shrine Club.
He is survived by his father, Clifford Wood of Chillicothe; wife, Pamela Bechtle Wood of Bidwell; son, Dustin K. Wood of Hurricane, W.Va.; daughter, Lacy Jean Wood of Bidwell; two sisters, Susan McKnabb of Columbus and Debby (Les) Barcus of Gallipolis; three brothers, Calvin (Judy) Holt of Columbus, Howard (Eunice) Wood of Lakeland, Fla., and Kevin E. Wood of Cross City, Fla.; father-in-law, Robert Bechtle of Point Pleasant; and a granddaughter, Aubra M. Wood.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, June 28, 2012, at Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastors Mark Williams and Alfred Holley officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. with Masonic services to be conducted at 8 p.m.
