Joanne E. Payne Bass, 83, Bidwell, Ohio, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at her residence on Monday, June 18, 2012. She was born on February 21, 1929, in Bidwell, daughter of the late Forrest Payne and Edna Stevens Payne.

She is survived by four children, Carol Petty of Bidwell, Ohio, Greg (Janice) James of Bidwell, Ohio, Lori Lafferty (Dave Hill) of Bidwell. Ohio, Raelene Bass Holland of Bidwell, Ohio; five grandchildren, Greg James, John (Sarah) James, Shelonda Petty, Raysean (Bridget) Allen and Jonathan Birchfield; and ten great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are one sister and two brothers, Helen Marie Boyd of Middleport, Ohio, Bobby (Iris) Payne of Middleport, Ohio, Mike (Patty) Payne of Columbus, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Marjorie Payne, Bidwell, Ohio; several nieces and nephews and a special adoptive daughter, Sharon Howell of Bidwell, Ohio.

In addition to her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by grandson, Anthony Petty; brother, Maurice Payne; and fiancé, Rev. Everneather Scott.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, at the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, State Route 554, Bidwell, Ohio, with Rev. Edward Buffington and Rev. Calvin Minnis officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Street Cemetery, Gallipolis, Ohio.

Friends may call at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton, on Thursday from 6-8 p.m.
