GALLIPOLIS — A Gallipolis woman has been arrested by deputies with the Gallia County Sheriff’s Office after she allegedly attempted to convey illegal drugs to an inmate incarcerated at the Gallia County Jail.
Christina I. Jones, 26, Gallipolis, was arrested on Wednesday evening for allegedly attempting to smuggle drugs to inmate Robert Gullett, 28, who is being held for probation violations, falsification and weapons charges.
Reportedly, at approximately 6 p.m. on June 13, a deputy with the sheriff’s office observed Jones attempting to smuggle a bottle of pills through security fencing at the county jail located at the Gallia County Courthouse at First Avenue and Locust Street in Gallipolis.
Jones was taken into custody and transported to the Middleport Municipal Jail.
The female suspect indicated that she was the “girlfriend” of the inmate. She is now facing felony drug charges.
As a result of the incident, Gullett is also being charged with third degree felony drug conveyance and deputies are also considering additional charges against Gullett for his alleged involvement in the conspiracy to receive the drug delivery.
