SOUTH POINT, Ohio — The River Valley track and field program collectively came away with five league championships Saturday afternoon during the 2012 Ohio Valley Conference Championships held at South Point High School in Lawrence County.
The Raiders won three individual titles and placed fourth in the six-team field with 83 team points on the boys side, while the Lady Raiders captured wins in two events and scored 78 points en route to finishing fifth in the girls meet.
Coal Grove (166) held off runner-up Fairland (130) to win the boys team title, while the Lady Dragons (141) returned the favor in the girls division after fending off second place Coal Grove (93).
Aaron Harrison led the Raiders with a pair of first place efforts in the 300m hurdles (41.16) and long jump (21-0), and the senior also finished second in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.91 seconds.
Patrick Williams won the 100m dash for the Raiders with a time of 11.26 seconds and was also the 400m runner-up with a mark of 53.13 seconds.
JaiNai Field captured gold for the Lady Raiders in the 400m dash with a mark of 1:00.56. The 4x400m relay team of Fields, Ramsey Warren, Keyana Ward and Rylie Hollingsworth also posted a winning time of 4:27.34.
Katie Blodgett was the 1600m runner-up with a mark of 5:40.07, and the 4x800m relay squad of Blodgett, Ward, Sheyan McGrath and Kaitlyn Tiller finished second with a time of 10:53.01.
