GALLIPOLIS — A Gallipolis man, formerly of Columbus, has been arraigned in the Gallipolis Municipal Court after his recent arrest following an investigation in a burglary by officers with the Gallipolis Police Department.
Thomas M. Seymour, 18, was arrested at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Thursday as a suspect in a Thursday morning burglary on Spruce Street in Gallipolis.
According to a press release issued Friday by the police department, officers were contacted at approximately 10 a.m. on Thursday in relation to the break-in and were informed by the Spruce Street residents that someone had kicked in the back door of their home and had taken several items, including a gun and a large amount of cash.
Later on Thursday, officers located the gun and, following leads from this find, were able to identify two suspects in this case: Seymour and a unidentified local juvenile.
Reportedly, most of items taken during the break-in were later found during a probation search of a local residence.
During his arraignment on Friday, Seymour did not enter a plea to the charge of burglary.
The defendant’s bond was set at $300,000, 10 percent and a preliminary hearing in this case has been scheduled for Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the municipal court.
Seymour is currently being held in the Gallia County Jail.
The second juvenile suspect is also expected to be charged with burglary.
